For some years now, our pics about pike fishing in the polders were making our French friends from Le Mouching crazy. So last November Jeremy, Romain & Johan took them on a pike journey.

Last week I had a day off, and found myself with Nicolas in a new region around Gouda.
The day started quite cold at 3°C, with easter wind, not really what I wished for, but a day fishing is always a good one spent.

Whenever a planned trip is getting closer, I become obsessed for tying lots of flies. I’m so thrilled that I tie so many types of flies, that some of them will not even end up at my leader.

The fourth day of our stay, is eternalised in my mind. We decided to fish a bigger lake today, on which we did quite well last year.
Last evening our French friends had some success in this lake, fishing lures from the shore, with a 90+cm mixed in. We decided to give it a try with our flies.

Last year we had a very good trip in Ireland, staying at Castle Hamilton. Since the potential of this area is so huge, I’m afraid to say we’ve got infected with its pike virus, and keep coming back, as we did this year.
We got this idea launched, to ask you guys some contribution for making this series complete, we’d like to get fishing stories from all over the world.
About a year ago we visited Vincent and Céline from Coyolles Fly Fishing, as they invited us to join them for the Rise Film festival.
Wether one can call 4 years a tradition or not, targeting Dutch pike at the Polders has become a yearly thing for us at Rodtrip.

In May 2016, we went back in Ireland for the second time.
We spent a week at Castlehamilton and fished most of the time small lakes with our float tubes.

The second edition of the Pike Challenge is now over, we expected really tough fishing but our really brave and skilled competitors did the job !
