As you may have noticed over the last couple of years, we have a special bond with sightfishing the nymph in France, targetting difficult fish at the end of the season. Whenever a planned trip is getting closer, I become obsessed for tying lots of flies. I’m so thrilled that I tie so many types of flies, that some of them will not even end up at my leader.

The fourth day of our stay, is eternalised in my mind. We decided to fish a bigger lake today, on which we did quite well last year.
Last evening our French friends had some success in this lake, fishing lures from the shore, with a 90+cm mixed in. We decided to give it a try with our flies.

Last year we had a very good trip in Ireland, staying at Castle Hamilton. Since the potential of this area is so huge, I’m afraid to say we’ve got infected with its pike virus, and keep coming back, as we did this year.
We got this idea launched, to ask you guys some contribution for making this series complete, we’d like to get fishing stories from all over the world.
We’ve all heard about it over here, but only few went out to give it a try. The reservoir of Meerheuvel – and yes, for once we can call a Belgian reservoir a real lake for fly fishing – opened its doors for our Rodtrip team on a glacial day in January 2017.
Because we wouldn’t want to make our beloved and comprehensive ladies angry, Johan and I decided to enjoy a last minute day off before Valentine’s day, to go trout fishing.
Wether one can call 4 years a tradition or not, targeting Dutch pike at the Polders has become a yearly thing for us at Rodtrip.
