The new action-cam from GoPro is out, its logically called the HERO4 but that’s not all !
There are now 3 editions of the GoPro:
- HERO4 Black
- HERO4 Silver
- HERO
The black and sylver editions were already existing, but the “HERO” is a new model (below). It’s in fact the new entry level GoPro, we could even call it a low cost action cam as it will be priced 125€ only.

The HERO4 Black edition is now capable to record in 4K at 30 images per second and more interesting (personal opinion), the possibility to record in 1080p at 120 images per second. An “affordable” way to create nice slow motion videos.
The silver edition doesn’t feature 4K and is able to record in 1080p at 60 images per second. But very good new, it has a touch screen on the back…
Now the question I am asking, why the black edition doesn’t have this screen… It would have made it perfect !
We will also need to see if the image quality has been really optimized, a point that is for me the weakness of the actual GoPro cameras, especially in low light conditions.
The Black edition will be sold 480€, the Silver edition 380€ and the classic Hero 125€.
