Yesterday took place the “One Fly” contest. This event is organised every year at the lake of La Strange in Belgium, the concept is quite original, accessible to every fly fishermen and easy to understand.
The day is splitted in two rounds, the morning and the afternoon.
The morning, 3 flies are proposed and all participants vote for one of them. The fly that gets the most voices is selected for the morning session and each competitor receive only a single fly. Spots are attributed at the beginning and the rotation rings every 30 minutes.
The tricky part is that if you lose your fly, you stop fishing and the round is over. That’s why you need to be really carefull with your tippet, your knots, and never forget the trees all around !
After lunch, we vote for one of the two remaining flies of the morning and the contest starts again the afternoon with the same concept.
I was there with Stéphane, Romain and Jérémy and it was a first time for us.
We all spent an excellent day, we all caught some fish and I am pretty sure that we will participate again next year !
Congratulations to the winners and to all participants.
Big thanks to the organisation team, to the contributors and to the sponsors of the event, Vision & FlyScene.
Here are the results and some photos we shot during the breaks.
