This imitative fly pattern is very light

and mobileon the water surface.

It demands the finest leader points. The CDC gives it good floatation, and enhanced visibility in all situations.

Materials

Hook standard straight shank hook, size 10 -12, down eye
Tying thread thread ultra fine, black colour
Abdomen Brown D-rib small, and olive yellow superfine dubbing
Wings CDC olive
Tail 5 fibres of dark brown pheasant tail

Step by step


1. Wrap the thread from eye to the curve of the hook

2. Tie in the the pheasant tail fibres
3. Tie in the D-rib at the curve, and twist the yellow olive dubbing on the thread
4. Wrap the yellow olive dubbing about ½ on the hook shank, twist 4 turns of D-rib, secure the D-rib and twist the dubbing further at ¾ of the shank
5. Prepare a dubbing loop of olive CDC
6. Wrap the dubbing loop of CDC, making sure that the fibres point upwards to the eye
7. Secure the dubbing loop with some turns of thread, and position the fibres to form the wings
8. Prepare a dubbing loop of brown olive hare’s ear mask
9. Wrap the dubbing loop of hare’s ear , making sure that the fibres point backwards to the hook’s curve. Secure the dubbing loop with some turns of thread and form the head
10. Make the final knot and varnish the head
